The Club History
Beginnings
For many years, the Cornelius Family had been wanting to run a folk music club, and we had the opportunity following the closure of the Thorverton Folk Club at the Exeter Inn, in 2004.
Exe Valley Folk Club
We moved into the Ruffwell Inn, Thorverton in June 2005, under the name of the Exe Valley Folk Club, running on the last Friday of the month, as did the Thorverton Folk Club. Unfortunately, this was short-lived, only lasting 10 months.
Seven Stars Folk & Acoustic Music Club
After a delay in finding another venue, we eventually moved closer to Exeter at the Seven Stars Inn in Kennford in October 2006, as Seven Stars Folk & Acoustic Music Club. A

At this venue we started booking professional guests on an occasional basis beginning with Bram Taylor in July 2008. During the six years we were at the Seven Stars we had booked the John Richards Band, Steve Knightley and Phil Beer.
The Ley Arms Folk & Acoustic Music Club
Then in November 2012 we moved to the Ley Arms in Kenn, as the Ley Arms Folk & Acoustic Music Club.

We then started hosting concert nights with professional guests on a regular basis, including Jim Causley, Steve Knightley, Mick Ryan & Paul Downes, Pete Morton, Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar, Johnny Coppin, Phil Henry & Hannah Martin, Phil Beer, Jackie Oates & James Dumbleton, BarronBrady, Mike Silver, Archie Fisher, Reg Meuross, Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston and others.
Exeter Folk Club
In February 2016 we decided to move to the Victoria Park Tennis Club in Exeter for our Open Club Nights and selected concert nights, with larger events to be held at another venue.
